With our hometown team beating the Yankees to get in the playoffs the other night, our Houston team at Walker Coffee decided to get into the major league spirit with our new company baseball caps!

Microlot Arrivals – Colombian Huila, Caquetá, and Valle del Cauca Coffee

Our Colombian microlot offerings have landed on the West Coast. Coming from the Huila, Caquetá, and Valle del Cauca regions, each of these coffees have been grown with care by farmer communities. All nine lots are in Grain-Pro bags.

Microlot Arrivals – Tanzanian AA and Peaberry Estate Coffee

Our specialty Tanzanian microlot coffees have arrived at Continental Terminals in New Jersey! Each lot was produced by farmer business groups in the volcanic soil of Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro and Ngorongoro regions. All are in Grainpro bags and reasonably priced. These beans are a great choice for sweet iced coffee to beat the summer heat.

For those of you on the West Coast, we also have bags of the AA Plus USHIRI in the Annex Warehouse as well.

Walker Coffee at NCA Charleston 2015

The Walker Coffee team will be heading up to Charleston, South Carolina, to attend the National Coffee Association Annual Convention 2015. We will not be exhibiting at the show this year, but we will be taking time to visit and check in on our valued friends and clients during the show. If you’re going to be at Charleston Place from March 12 through March 14, keep an eye out and don’t be afraid to say howdy when you see one of us!

We’ve come a long way since we opened our doors 9 years ago, growing both our team and our clients over the past few years. Walker Coffee at Coffee Fest Atlanta 2015

We’ll be heading to the Peach State in a couple of weeks for the first Coffee Fest of 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia.

When you go, don’t forget to check out the Bid For Hope / Café Femenino Foundation Silent Auction! Proceeds will be going towards the foundation’s mission to enhance the lives of women and families in the coffee-producing communities throughout the world. We’ll be putting two bags of our own green coffee up for auction, making it the perfect opportunity to acquire quality specialty coffee while also supporting a good cause.

The PCCA Coffee of the Year 2014!

The tradition of fantastic coffee and rich education continued this year at the PCCA cupping competition. The chosen origin this year was Colombia and it did not disappoint. Many exceptional coffees were submitted by importers and exporters worldwide for judgment.

Miriam Adriana Briñez bought Las Lajas farm 9 years ago. Running it as a family business, she manages the farm with her father, Jose Briñez, who acts as the farm administrator. When Miriam acquired the farm, conditions were poor: the coffee trees were very old and had been planted without any apparent thought to planning.

The Briñez family has been hard at work to improve conditions of the farm ever since. New farming techniques and technologies have been utilized to improve the quality and quantity of harvest, and the impact of the farm on the native environment has driven the implementation of sustainable practices.

The farm Las Lajas is located in the Tena municipality of Colombia in the department of Cundinamarca. This coffee is a mixture of the Castillo, Colombia, and Typica varietals. Produced on 1.8 hectares of land at roughly 6,000 ft, Las Lajas coffee’s main harvest goes from spring through early summer.
